1 tablespoon active dry yeast
4 cups unbleached bread flour, and more for kneading
6 tablespoons sugar
1 cup warm water
1 cup warm milk
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup oil
1 teaspoon salt
breadcrumbs
In a bowl, mix 2 1/2 cups flour, 6 tablespoons sugar, yeast, warm water and warm milk. Cover with a plastic bag and keep in a warm place for 1 hour.
Add the egg, oil, salt, and the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until fully blended and dough forms into a ball. Transfer to a clean floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until dough becomes smooth. Cover with a a kitchen towel and keep in a warm place to rise for 1 hour.
Punch in the center to remove air. Cut into 2 pieces and roll each piece into a log. Cut each log 1 1/2" wide pieces to make pandesal rolls then sprinkle or dredge breadcrumbs on the cut sides.
Arrange on a greased or lined with parchment paper baking sheet and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
*Note
I will decrease the olive oil from 1/2 cup to 1/4 cup next try and use evaporated milk instead of warm water. Will bake it for 375degrees Fahrenheit for 17 to 18 minutes.
