How to make a Thin Crust Pizza Dough

Ingredients
1 teaspoon active yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 cup tepid water
4 cups unbleached bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Preheat oven to 500* F one hour before baking.
  1. In a big bowl mix the 1/2 cup warm water, yeast, and 1 cup of flour.  Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for 15 minutes in a warm place.
  2. Add the olive oil and 1 cup tepid water.  Combine flour and salt and add one cup at a time to the yeast mixture. Mix well each time you add the flour until dough clumps together.
  3. Transfer to a clean floured working surface and knead dough for about 8 minutes or until smooth.  Form into a ball and  put back in the big bowl.  Grease the bowl and the dough with very little oil, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Punch the dough in the center to deflate.  Divide dough into two or four parts depending on what size you want your pizza.  Two parts will yield a 12" pizza and 4 parts will yield 6" to 8" pizza dough.
  5. Flatten each pizza dough with the palm of your hand or use a rolling pin to form your dough.  You can make a round or a free form dough. Flour your hands, the rolling pin, and the surface you will be working on. Wet and seal with just a little amount of water the edge of the round dough (if it's dry) and fold or roll 1/2" towards the center. Poke the center of the dough with a fork to create vents.
  6. Your pizza dough is now ready to be filled with your favorite sauces, cheeses, sausages, and veggies.
  7. Bake in a preheated 500^F oven for about 7 to 8 minutes or until golden brown.  Rotate once while baking.
